The MERYLOU DOCUMENTARY PRODUCED BY L.A. CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

The Danao Association USA, Inc. never gave up;  for 10 years DAUSA searched for a sponsor for one of  its first Medical Mission patient, whose face was so badly deformed that anyone looking at her the first time could run in horror.  Merylou already 12 years old in 2007 finally came to Los Angeles, through the help of Mending Kids International, PAL Foundation and some generous DAUSA members.  Then a medical miracle transformed a poor little girl with severe facial deformity into a normal teen,  made possible by a team of surgeons at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, led by a world reknown plastic surgeon, Dr. Mark Urata.

The 2008 Karansa sa Danao

The 2008 Karansa sa Danao has drawn a record breaking crowd since it started nearly 30 years ago.  To my rough estimate, those who watched, in the streets around the parade route and those at the reclaimed area of the Fish Port, could be no less than 200,000.  Among the crowd were a big contingent from the U.S. mostly members of DAUSA who came along with the Balik Danao group and/or with the DAUSA Medical Mission vountteers.
